Help get Millicent Armstrong’s work back into the Australian literary and dramatic canon. Help put the Gunning & Goulburn region on the map as a place where great cultural stuff has happened, and where it will happen in the future.
Arts and culture has a big part to play in rebuilding regional economies, wellbeing and confidence. Let’s get Millicent Armstrong’s name and her work out into the public domain, starting with this project at the Gunning Arts Festival 2021. It’s tax deductible, btw. You may donate here.
The University of Queensland are digitising Millicent’s works so as to make these out of print works available for study and performance, and the University of New England will be borrowing texts from UQ for research.
All permissions are now in place with Millicent’s family for the digitisation and publishing process. UNE are working with Playlab to bring a collection of 6 plays from the Australian Drama Archive into print through their New Vintage Collection. UNE have two interns working on the Australian Drama Archive project this semester which will see a number of Millicent Armstrong’s plays digitised and published on AustLit by mid 2020. The interns will also research Millicent’s life and career and the universities will draw on that research for online and in print content.
Do you want to hear 2 of Millicent Armstrong’s plays read by a professional cast? Come to Gunning Arts Festival April 2021.
